It is to the rhythm of jazz, blues and funk that this unique bar in Albi city centre comes alive, and every summer, it enjoys a unique musical programme on the Place.

In this bar, Sonny and his team operate in suspenders and bow ties and propel you into a 30s atmosphere, with a chic Gatsby and casual Peakyblinders version.

For lovers of Rum, Whiskey and other spirits, they have unearthed for you unique bottles and the passionate team will be able to tell you the story of each label...

The 1930s speakeasy in Albi

Shuuut! Speak softly... This is the translation of the word Speakeasy. It appeared in the 1920s in the United States during Prohibition.

The production, sale and consumption of alcohol were then prohibited. As a form of rebellion, some bar and cabaret owners clandestinely opened establishments allowing customers who wanted to get drunk to consume alcohol. In order not to attract raids by the police, these small bars were often discreet and hid in small alleys, in the backs of grocery stores or behind hidden doors at the back of telephone booths; only the initiated knew about these hideouts. And it was always for the sake of discretion that the owners of the speakeasies asked their customers to "speak softly...".
